A 650-horsepower Mercedes Cabrio is not only available with a Maybach badge. Brabus presents its interpretation of a power-cabrio based on the C-Class at the Geneva Autosalon with the Brabus 650 Cabrio.
On the basis of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Convertible, the Brabus massaged the turbo engine to a 650-horsepower at 5,800 rpm (plus 140 hp) rating and a maximum torque of 820 Nm, ranging from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. As a result, the open four-seater sprints in just 3.7 seconds to 100 km / h and reaches a top speed of 320 km / h.
The power increase was achieved by installing two special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and a special trunk group with reinforced axial bearing. Furthermore, Brabus has modified electronic engine management.
The Brabus 650 Cabrio transfers the power by means of the seven-speed sports gearbox from the C 63 S to the 20-inch rear wheels that are fitted with sports tires of the dimension 285/30 ZR 20. Tires of dimension 255/30 ZR 20 are used in front. In order to keep the Brabus 650 on the road, the suspension has also been modified. Special sports springs with height adjustment are combined with the standard Ride Control shock absorbers with adaptive damping. This allows the suspension height to be adjusted individually. The adjustment range is between 20 and 40 millimeters.
Acoustic and visually, the stainless steel exhaust system with flap control should upgrade the convertible. It allows a sound management controlled electronically from the cockpit. At the push of a button, you can alternatively switch between subtle “Coming home” mode and an extra-sporty engine sound with open exhaust flaps.
The Brabus upgrade also includes aerodynamic components, which are offered in visible carbon with a choice of matt or high-gloss finish. For the front, there is a more dynamic apron, for the flanks special side skirts as well as visible carbon covers on the exterior mirrors. At the rear, a carbon diffuser frames the two double-flow tailpipes.
In the interior, Brabus shows full leather upholstery and blue decor elements. This is complemented by additional carbon elements as well as pedals and door locking pins in aluminum. The Brabus Cabrio is available as a complete vehicle or can be built up completely or step by step on the basis of every Mercedes C 63 S convertible.
