Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe has been the darling of automotive media around the world these days. But things are about to change as BMW is putting the final touches on its answer, the M4 GTS, spied here virtually undisguised for the first time.
Our spy photographers stumbled upon a white prototype put through its paces by BMW engineers on the infamous Nurburgring track. But what might seem like the M4 GTS concept unveiled in Pebble Beach to the untrained eye is in fact none other than the production version of BMW’s Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe killer.
Not much has changed since the Monterey Concours d’Elegance though. The exterior sees its flamboyant spirit unaltered by the transition from conceptual form to production, orange painted alloys and exaggerated aerodynamic accents included. Wait, there’s more. The new front splitter and rear wing are not only sexy but also fully adjustable while the carbon fiber top is destined for series manufacturing. The thinly veiled tail lights also can’t hide the fact that BMW M4 GTS is also set to retain the OLED technology featured on the Pebble Beach prototype.
Another talking point in relation to the upcoming BMW M4 GTS is its revolutionary water injection implemented by Bavaria’s finest in their quest to keep the temperature of the combustion chamber as low as possible with immediate advantages in therms of the turbocharger’s speed of reaction and above all the reliability of the engine.
Just how worried the all-new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe should really be though? Very! BMW is poised to give its Affalterbach nemesis a hard time and inject in excess of 500 hp into the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six powering the future M4 GTS, enough to challenge the mighty Merc and give us goose bumps at the thought of an epic comparison test. Bring it on!
