A very precious discovery recently occurred in a garage located on the beach of Ponte Vedra, Florida: an original 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is probably one of the most coveted classic cars by collectors around the world. The history of the car is not easy at all, with only one owner, throughout its life, it has been preserved only in the Florida garage and parking place that it was found in, today the odometer measuring only 65,000 kilometers.
The car found in Florida is also the 43rd produced, making it even more valuable for collectors. Its condition is pretty good for its age, being stored outdoors waiting for a repaint since 10 years ago.
The interior is absolutely original, but it would require a serious cleaning, the owner says the car still has air from 1954 in the tires.
The car was bought by California’s Mercedes-Benz Classic and is undergoing a major restoration process with a cost of work estimated at about 1-1.2 million dollars. Mercedes has decided to display the car in its barn find condition at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
