Back to the roots: This is how the basic Mercedes A-Class looks like

Have you ever wondered how the Mercedes-Benz A-Class looks like in its most basic trim? We know we did and this is the result: the A 160 for just under thirty thousand euros.

For that money you have the baby Benz with a completely new petrol engine. The 109 bhp 1.33-liter turbo comes with 7 extra horsepower, a top speed of 200 km / h and a manual six-speed gearbox. Furthermore, the new A-Class is a neat hatchback for the money you pay. For example, Mercedes paints the five-door free in different solid, but lively colors. Although the majority probably opts for the somewhat dull black color, eccentrics can also go for the yellow or red!

Alloy wheels are absent from the list of standard features, but the 16-inch hub caps look at first glance not very cheap. It is unfortunate that Mercedes still offers only halogen headlights without any surcharge, but at least they look very similar to the LED headlight units and include the now mandatory LED daylights.

Inside you take a seat on ‘Tandel’ clothing and stare at the large 7 inch center screen for the MBUX infotainment system. The classic speedometer and rev-counter have also been replaced with a 7 inch screen and especially when compared to the old model, the difference is huge. The MBUX system can be controlled by means of the touch control surfaces placed on the multifunction steering wheel. This is not covered with leather, because that is a separate option. The passengers find an armrest between the front seats as standard, windows and mirrors are (of course) electrically operated, just like the lamps and wipers that work without effort from the driver. Mercedes completes the list of standard features with cruise control, reversing camera, automatic air conditioning (over one zone) and Dynamic Select for multiple driving modes.
