All new Mercedes models expected in 2016 and 2017 were detailed by Mercedes as part of its quarterly balance sheet which included the model schedule for this and the coming year. Highlights include the GLA Coupe, the GLT pick-up and the Mercedes-AMG GT C.
Just recently Mercedes has pulled the wraps off the AMG GT R monster with 585 PS. According to the plan, the GT R is officialy scheduled to reach the showrooms in the first half of 2017.
Joining it at the top of the Mercedes-AMG line-up is the AMG GT Roadster, also expected to be revealed early next year. Another member of the Mercedes-AMG GT range will be the GT C roadster – a new, undetailed engine variant, a possible update of the current standard GT. The coupe version of the GT C also shows up in the model schedule before the end of 2017.
The biggest suprise in the Mercedes timetable for 2016 and 2017 is the GLA Coupe. No, this is not an all-new SUV coupe joining the current GLA crossover, but the GLA facelift which gets a new name to make room for the future five and seven-seat SUV, previously known as the GLB. The GLA facelift/GLA Coupe will be launched mid-2017.
2017 is also an important year for the E-Class range. In the first half, Mercedes will unveil the E-Class Coupé and the Mercedes E-Class All Terrain or T-Cross – an E-Class T-Modell with raised ground clearance, in the vein of the Audi A6 Allroad. The new E-Class convertible will join them in Q3 2017.
The facelift of the S-Class follows mid 2017, missing its rumoured Paris motorshow this Autumn. Next on the timetable is the first-ever Mercedes pickup, the GLT which is developed developed closely with Nissan and based on the all-new Navara.
Smart fans will also be happy to hear the all-electric Fortwo Coupé EV will be presented at the end of 2016, followed in the 1st half of 2017 by the Fortwo Cabrio EV and the Forfour EV.
