In 2020, the current generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class will pass the baton to a completely new generation and it is that very new flagship that has surfaced before the lens of espionage photographers today.
The current S-Class dates back to 2013 and has recently undergone a comprehensive facelift (see the test below). The top Mercedes is now in its last round according to the planning of Mercedes-Benz and that means that the test work with the new generation is already in full swing.
A new ‘Sonderklasse’ obviously brings a whole new set of tech with it. The current generation is capable of autonomous driving at level 2, but the new S-Class certainly needs to be at level 3 (at least). That still means keeping your hands on the steering wheel, although the car will drive itself if wanted in most situations.
Inside and out, we expect Mercedes-Benz to be inspired by the design of the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury that the brand revealed in China in April this year. Expect the new S-Class on the market by 2020.
