The Polish tuner Carlex Design had announced a Mercedes X-Class 6×6 monster truck since 2018. But they eventually produced a single unit. The vehicle already found an owner via the Classic Youngtimers auctioning platform.
6×6 models are very rare in the automotive industry. One of them is Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6, made in limited series and with a prohibitive price of half a million euros. In Europe it is a very rare occurrence due to the size of almost 5.9 m in length and excessive consumption due to the m137 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo engine and 544 HP. There were only a little over 100 copies that rolled off the assembly line, between 2013 and 2015. So it boasts a very high dose of exclusivity.
Maybe there is something more exclusive than G 63 AMG 6×6? Yes, a model produced in a single copy. What you see in the photos is not a computer rendering. It is instead a monster pickup in real metal, bearing the name of Mercedes X 350 d 6×6. It comes with three axles just like the G 63 AMG 6×6.
Mercedes X-Class went out of production last year after only 3 years due to very poor sales, below 20,000 units per year. It was built on the platform of the Nissan Navara and the basic version used the 2.2-liter Nissan engine and 190 HP. But there was also a top X 350 d version with a 3-liter Mercedes V6 engine and 258 HP, which Carlex Design transformed from a 4×4 model to a 6×6 one.
Mercedes X-Class 6×6, a model Carlex announced three years ago
The Polish tuner announced this model back in 2018. But for unknown reasons, they delayed and eventually only built a single unit.
Carlex jokes about the G 63 AMG 6×6 and in the presentation made to the X 350 d 6×6 the polish tuner says that it is a commercial vehicle with V6 turbodiesel engine which at the end of the day you want to drive instead of just looking for the nearest gas station, alluding the very high consumption of the V8 bi-turbo engine.
Mercedes X-Class 6×6 has a custom-made subframe. It gives the model some extra room for a separate third axle. Ground clearance has been increased by 10 cm to make room for larger diameter alloy wheels. The flared wheel guards and AMG GTR-inspired radiator grille give it the air of a monster truck. The pick-up bed has been extended and comes with a custom roll-bar.
This unique Mercedes X-Class 6×6 was already sold on the Classic Youngtimers auction site but the price was not made public. The car had 10,538 km on board and was produced in 2020. The exterior paint and black leather upholstery are original Mercedes.
