It’s just one of those days for our protagonist, a Russian driver who makes sure people safely commute to work. Waking up before sunrise and getting behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic. Let’s join him for a day in Moscow.
“I have lived in Moscow for six years. Every morning I leave my apartment and become part of this river of traffic”, Maxim Zibisow says, battling his way through traffic jams and 12-lane roads. He is a professional driver and he knows exactly how important safety and comfort are.
“I have a responsible job, because I ensure that people arrive at their work place on time.” Their work place meaning the industrial belt of the city.
And they do. By 6 p.m., he makes sure they also get home safe. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic can accommodate up to 20 passengers. “And I am certain that they enjoy travelling in this bus”, says the driver himself.
“I bring the same passengers to work every day. We often talk during the drive. I like that a lot”, he tells of his daily trips around Moscow, right before starting the conversation as a wake-up call for his passengers.
Always same people, same city, same car every day, but this job is so far from being boring. He’s working in one of the most exciting places in the world. Caught between communist past and democracy, Moscow displays classical structures like the gigantic Kremlin and whole districts of steel and glass.
