The Mercedes-Benz CLS was the first to get all the attention. It was first spotted in September 2014. Soon after the first photos surfaced the internet, the vehicle was shipped to England, as somebody paid 208 560 euros ($235 125) to purchase it. Now, a BMW Z4 is walking in its footsteps.
Not a single day goes by without people shooting videos of the Swarovski Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 around London and posting them on the internet. A very rich Russian student had received it as a birthday gift from her parents, but eventually decided to sell it and donate the money to charity.
The BMW Z4 has been spotted, this week, in Moldova. What is it with the Eastern Europeans? The body of the convertible is covered in 250 000 Swarovski crystals, but still far from the figure of the Mercedes. The Mercedes CLS now driving around London has one million crystals.
The Z4 went through a treatment of gluing the glitzy expensive little stones on its body, one by one. There are crystals also on the wheels, so they can go bling-bling in motion. The whole sticking process lasted six months. It only lasted two months for the CLS, but the experts worked 12 hours per day, even on weekends, to make the Benz twinkle like a star.
The car photographed and filmed in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau, is rumoured to belong to a young man, who – as seen in the video – usually cruises by night, so everyone can see the radiant automobile glowing in the dark.
The jewel on wheels from Moldova though features a lower profile interior. It is wrapped up in Alcantara and leather.
The first BMW Z4 ever to be dressed in Swarovski crystals belonged to a Russian and it was registered in the Guiness World Records Book for being the object featuring the highest number of such crystals at that time: 500 000!
