Daimler incorporates smart into the Mercedes EQ family. The battery-electric smart EQ fortwo/forfour nightsky edition revealed at the Geneva Motor Show are the first series-produced models of the new product and technology sub-brand.
Order books are open from 6 March with prices beginning at 28,255 euros (smart EQ fortwo) and 31,515 euros (smart EQ fortwo cabrio). The special Edition Nightsky models for the Forfour and the Fortwo have black paintwork and feature accent pieces in the typical EQ blue on the bodywork and in the interior.
Bodypanels, tridion safety cell and radiator grille come in black on the smart EQ fortwo nightsky edition, with the cabrio additionally sporting a black soft top. The special model features the BRABUS Exterior Style package as standard.
With the new special models, Smart is also introducing optimized charging technology. The new 22 kW fast charger enables a three-phase charging at public stations or at the wallbox. The high-voltage battery can be charged in less than 40 minutes from 19 to 80 percent and will be available from May 2018 for 840 euros extra.
From mid-2018, Smart will be offering the “Smart EQ Control App”, which allows customers to keep track of vehicle status in a personalized way. So she could make the Vorklimatisierung by smartphone and receive push messages around her Smart. Also integrated is a charging service as well as digital support in the search for the next charging station.
Private car sharing via app now possible
The company also launches the series start “Ready to share” via app. Here, the private car sharing app was tested in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne / Bonn, Munich and Frankfurtthe. In Germany, Italy and France Mercedes also offer a special ready-to-go package for Smart Fortwo and Smart Forfour in combination with combustion engine or electric drive.
