Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 shows its face for the first time. Following the launch of the new generation A-Class, Mercedes-Benz naturally enriches its compact model family with an all-new CLA four-door coupe.
Initially, Mercedes’ plans looked crazy when it appeared that the Germans were preparing not one, but two compact sedan derivates of the new A-Class. We now know that Mercedes-Benz will offer both an A-Class Limousine and a successor of the CLA.
The A-Class sedan has already been revealed and clearly we will not have to wait too long for the launch of the sportier 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA, shown here in the latest spy pictures. In the long run, a fully-fledged AMG edition of the CLA will also appear and it is this version that has now surfaced for the first time – caught near the famed Nurburgring race track.
The Mercedes-AMG version of the previous CLA offered 381 hp and 475 Nm, coming from a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will also be powered by a 2.0 turbo engine, which is expected to break through the magic limit of 400 hp in its new incarnation.
From the outside, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 naturally features exuberant spoiler work and the characteristic AMG styling treatment, including quad-tailpipes. The CLA is also said to get a milder AMG brother for the first time, a car that should be badged as the Mercedes-AMG 43. This less hardcore Mercedes-AMG CLA is expected to develop around 300 horsepower from its 2.0 engine.
