The 2019 Mercedes GLC gets all the external and inner characteristics of fresher Mercedes products, like the recently presented C-Class facelift. FIRST SPY PICTURES.

Mercedes-Benz presented the D segment SUV GLC in 2015 and now it is time for an update. The GLC-class was presented at the end of last year in F-Cell hydrogen powered guise, but it seems that that car with the ‘old’ nose does not have a long life. The spy photos clearly show that the headlights are new. Not only the layout, but also the shape of the lamp units is clearly revamped.

The facelift of the GLC seems more drastic than that of the C-class, in which case the differences are only visible with a magnifying glass. In addition to new headlight units, we note a different grille and front bumper. There is not much going on at the back of the white prototype, but be sure that the rear lights are set to at least get a different LED signature.

However, the news is not finished yet, because the spy photographer has also been able to take a look at the interior of the 2019 Mercedes GLC. What we first see is a new, broader 10.25-inch infotainment screen, presumably connected to the latest gen MBUX system. It is operated in the photographed car by means of the MBUX touch pad, the control element without a knob that can also be found in the E-class and A-class.

Finally, there is the now familiar new steering wheel, a three-spoke unit with many (touch) buttons. The changes that apply to the ‘regular’ GLC will undoubtedly also be implemented for the GLC Coupé. However, it is expected to take a year before the car makes its appearance.

When the time comes, Mercedes-Benz will also take a closer look at the engine range. The updated GLC family will receive the new generation of engines. In the diesel field we will find the new 2.0-liter diesel (OM654) with 194 HP and the new inline-six 3.0-liter diesel (OM656) with 286 HP. The current petrol V6 will be replaced by the new inline-six 3.0-liter petrol engine while the current 4.0-liter V8 AMG from the GLC 63 will remain unchanged.
