FIRST-EVER 2018 Mercedes S-Class facelift pictures has surfaced online. HERE IS EVERYTHING WE KNOW. Spy pics come via saudishift.com.

Design changes are minimal with a new grille and bumper, plus the latest generation of multi-beam LED headlights with permanent high-beam. Inside, the biggest news is the wider, frameless dual-screen set-up. Without the previous thick frame, the screen area will become larger, while the Comand infotainment system will be updated to the latest 5.5 version and dispense with the previous rotary knob in favor of a touch-sensitive pad and gesture control. The new S-Class will also feature a brand new three spoke steering wheel.

The engine range of the Mercedes S-Class is also being revised with the Facelift. New in the luxury line-up is the straight-six-turbo diesel with 340 hp and a maximum torque of 700 Nm.
The other units are increasing in performance and are consuming less fuel. The nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission will be standard across the range. As spy pictures show, the facelifted S-Class will also be available in S560 guise moniker, as a nod to the iconic S-Class W126 from the end of the 1970s to the early 1990s. This variant will replace the S 550 featuring Mercedes’ latest 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, that’s not only more powerful than the current 449hp 4.7-liter bi-turbo V8 at 476hp, but also 12 percent more fuel efficient.

The plug-in hybrid S 500 e is also refreshed. A six-cylinder in-line engine replaces the previous V-engine. Possibly even a four-cylinder comes into question. The new combustion engine is combined with a more powerful electric motor and the 9G-Tronic automatic. In terms of charging performance, Daimler is also relentless. The S-Class hybrid model can also be optionally charged by induction with up to 3.6 kW per hour.
