2018 Mercedes C-Class will bring subtle styling tweaks and new diesel and petrol engines for the ultra-popular mid-size sedan and wagon. FIRST SPY PICTURES.

Auto motor und sport’ spy photographers have caught the Mercedes almost unmasked as well as pictures of the cockpit, the taillights and also the upcoming Mercedes C-Class Estate. They show that the new Mercedes C-Class gets new bumpers and a few minor changes around the grill, plus new headlights. In addition, the rear lights get a new layout.

The C-Class facelift will be presented at the Geneva motor show, next March. Among the most important changes is the introduction of the electronic architecture of the E-Class, which makes all new systems and applications of the big brother accessible to C-Class as well. Already a few months ago, spy photos showed a C-class with the large cockpit dual-display layout known from the S-class and E-Class. After this display has been passed on to the new E-Class, it seems reasonable to assume that the new C-Class in its facelift version will also receive the digital cockpit for an additional charge – also to compete with Audi with its “virtual cockpit” in the A4.

The newest pictures also show the new three-spoke steering wheel with touch controls. In addition, another feature is the touchpad in the center console, with which you can operate the infotainment system by gesture control. The C-Class is also equipped for autonomous driving at level 2.

In the gasoline department, the V6 is switched to the new 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder. In addition, the new two-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with up to 272 hp is used – also featuring a 48V electric architecture, which allows the use of electric boosters and electric chargers. The hybrid powertrain in the C-Class gets more electric power and a wider electrical range.
