Mercedes’ compact model family is almost completely revamped. Only the GLA has yet to go under the knife, something that will happen early next year. 2017 Mercedes GLA new spyshots.

Mid last year, Mercedes-Benz revealed during the Goodwood Festival of Speed the facelifted A-Class. The redesign was limited to optical adjustments like new lighting and marginally modified bumpers. The Mercedes-AMG 45 variants got a power bump to 381 hp.

In line with the A-Class, the GLA will host similar changes. The most striking modifications will be applied to the headlights – now with optional LED technology – and the tail light design.

Updated engines with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions are also part of the update. The GLA 45 AMG will benefit the most. Its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine gets new mapping and higher boost pressure. As a result, power output will go up from today’s 360 hp rating to 381 hp and 475 Nm. The CLA 250 will also get a revised engine with total output increased from 211 to 218 hp.

Of course, the 2017 GLA also features inside a new multimedia system. The interior features new materials and fresh instrument cluster alongside an optional larger display. An official unveiling is expected soon.
