2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe has now been fully exposed. Exclusive pics published by our colleagues from Carscoops.com show the 2-door E-Class’ dashboard free of any camo.
The prototype shows clear design similarities with the bigger S-Class Coupe. The same round vents can be seen adorning the center of the dashboard with the dual-screen arrangement seen in the E-Class sedan as well also featured prominently.
On the engine front, center stage will be taken by the staple 2.0-liter L4 turbo gasoline engine available in 184 and 211 hp flavors. Brand new is the 3-liter in-line six-cylinder turbo (code M256) said to develop as much as 401 hp while at the upper end of the range the AMG 63 will offer an estimated 612 hp courtesy of the AMG sourced 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 of GT fame.
A Plug-In Hybrid is also earmarked for production with the power of the electric engine expected to range from 102 HP to 122 HP compared with the current output of 82 to 116 HP. The 2017 E-Class Coupe will also get the new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes’ modular MRA platform, already underpinning the C-Class and S-Class, will sit at the base of the new E-Class Coupe. The new four-seat GT will make extensive use of lightweight materials such as aluminum in order to become lighter, more rigid and more efficient.
The new model will debut at the beginning of 2016 with first deliveries expected to take place next Spring.
