2017 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake gets in line with its four-door sibling and receives the same mild technical and styling updates. And we’ve got all the details plus an exclusive video courtesy of regular spy camera man Walko.

Slightly tweaked front bumper, grille, headlights – now with optional LED technology – and tail lights is all we get in therms of styling. Inside, changes are even more discrete with only Apple and Google MirrorLink connectivity featured as an extra compared to the current model.

The naming structure for the diesel versions is bound to change. In place of their current CDI and Bluetec badges, diesel powered CLA Shooting Brake models will simply be set apart by the ‘d’ symbol placed after their number designation.

Dynamic Select will now be standard alongside both manual and automatic (7G-DCT seven-speed dual-clutch) variants, except base engines. The system adjusts the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and air conditioning in four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual. But the biggest news concerns the introduction of an adaptive suspension option, offered for the first time on the CLA.

Under the bonnet expect only minimal changes, mostly reserved for the top of the line CLA 45 AMG model which gets a significant power boost. Output will raise from 360 to 381 hp thanks to new ECU mapping and revised (higher) boost pressure for the turbo. A mechanical locking front differential is also said to make an appearance alongside the CLA 45 AMG.

Expect to see the 2017 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake at next year’s Geneva motor show in March.
