And the award goes to the… 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster! The almost 80-year old automobile won “Best of Show” at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille.

The classic classy car belongs to Evert Louwman and the Louwman Museum and was chosen to be the most beautiful in the show that took place at the Chateau de Chantilly, 50 kilometers north-east from Paris. The 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster marched in front of 13 500 spectators that attended the event this past weekend, a 35% increase compared to the attendance recorded last year.

At the Chateau de Chantilly, all spectators watched in awe the classic vehicles, fashion shows, enjoyed the French cuisine and were amazed by state-of-the-art technology in futuristic cars, all with the French Royal castle in the background.

100 cars took part in the Concurs d’Estat and seven others paraded alongside supermodels dressed in haute couture at the Hugo Boss France catwalk show and others fashion displays, set up by various designers from around the continent.

“Chantilly is currently considered one of the most significant events in Europe for meeting up to chat about design generally and automotive design in particular”, says Michael Bock, Head of Mercedes-Benz Classic and Customer Centre.

The Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille event took place for the first time in 2014 and had around 10 000 visitors and over 100 vehicles in the Concours d’Etat, on its debut. The third edition of the competition is set to take place on September 4th, at the very same location.
