Sophia Florsch, a 17-year-old German pilot, was the protagonist of a terrible accident on Sunday at the F3 Grand Prix in Macau. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver suffered a fracture at the spine, after her car, powered by a Mercedes engine, flew into the crowd.

The picture shows how Florsch missed the turn, hitting at a speed of over 200 km / h Sho Tsuboi’s car that was braking to take a turn on the right, then took off before crossing a fence and hitting a wall at a very high speed, falling back on its wheels. It is not yet known whether the accident was caused by a technical failure or pilot error.

The Macao hospital has announced that Sophia Florsch is conscious of and out of danger, but has suffered a fracture in the spine.

Three others injured
Sophia Florsch is fine, but four journalists – a cameraman and three photographers were seriously injured. They are conscious and they have also been hospitalized.

The red flag was deployed and the race interrupted. Dan Ticktum finally won the race, for the second year in a row. Frenchman Sacha Fenestraz finished in third place. Mick Schumacher, F3 European Champion and son of Michael Schumacher, finished fifth.

Today, Sophia Florsch posted a message on Twitter, saying she feels good and will be undergoing surgery. “I just want to let you know I’m fine. Thank you all for support messages.”
