11 design awards for Mercedes-Benz at the Automotive Brand Contest

Not a competition goes by without Mercedes-Benz knocking down a prize. But most of the times, it’s not just one, but… ELEVEN! The historic success was recorded at the 2015 Automotive Brand Contest.

With 11 first places in 15 categories, Mercedes-Benz is the undisputed number one of design. The awards for this year’s the Automotive Brand Contest were presented at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

The all-new GLE Coupe SUV or the F015 Luxury in Motion concept, the Mercedes-AMG GT or the CLA Shooting Brake – the starred brand finished way ahead of all other automobile manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz was additionally voted “Brand of the Year”, as the judges were equally impressed by both exterior and interior styling of various Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The brand was also selected to be “Best of Best” three times: the Mercedes-AMG GT super car, the CLA Shooting Brake, together with the 2025 Future Truck led the way in the “Exterior Premium Brand” category.

As widely expected, the F015 Luxury in Motion was chosen the “Innovation of the Year”.

The smart mini-car also impressed the juries. Its interior was awarded with a special mention in the “Interior Premium Brand” category.

Other categories won by Mercedes-Benz:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe was the winner of the “Exterior Premium Brand” and the “Interior Premium Brand” awards.
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake got the “Interior Premium Brand” trophy in its class.
  • Mercedes-Benz G-Code was selected the best in the “Concepts” category.
  • Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was chosen as the winner of another “Interior Premium Brand”.

The Automotive Brand Contest takes place every year and is held by the “German Design Council”, a foundation initiated by the German Bundestag (consultation and legislative body). The highly respected design contest is the only neutral, international design competition for automotive brands and has very quickly established itself as one of the world’s major competitions in the auto industry.
