New milestone for Mercedes-Benz in May. The brand with the star has announced a new sales record and double-digit growth estimated at no less than 12.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Overall, Mercedes-Benz sales record has amounted to the deliveries of 151,135 vehicles to customers. Globally, the top-seller model in Mercedes-Benz range continues to be the C-Class whose deliveries increased by 59.5% to 33,016 units in May. In the first five months of the year, Mercedes-Benz posted a new record with 174,875 vehicles sold (+57.3%).

The new compact family has had a great impact on Mercedes’ success, reported deliveries rising to 46,363 units in May (+22.3%). With both the CLA and GLA posting sales records, Mercedes-Benz has never before sold so many compact cars in a month.

The S-Class has also reached a new all-time high with with 8,550 units delivered to customers. Mercedes’ top-modell remains the world’s best-selling luxury saloon in May with the biggest sales market of the model series China closely followed by the USA.

Mercedes’ success relied heavily on the SUV segment sales boost which recorded a sales record in May with 41,210 units (+18.7%). And the success story is bound to grow even stronger as the successor of the GLK, the GLC, will celebrate its world premiere in Germany on June 17.

On the old continent, Mercedes has delivered 316,324 vehicles, in the first five months of the year, an increase of 10.5% compared to the same period from 2014. As tradition dictates, the biggest market in Europe is still Germany, which accounted for 22,252 models (+3.6%). Mercedes-Benz has also enjoyed sustained sales growth in Great Britain (+11.6%), Sweden (+15.7%), and Portugal (+30.9%).

The NAFTA region has also posted record results. No less than 34,488 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were handed over to customers, 29,583 of which went to customers in the USA (+11.1%). If we count Canada as well, North America reached an all-time high sales increase of 32.8%.

The star in May has definitely been the Asia-Pacific region. With 46,260 happy customers choosing a ‘lucky star’ in April sales have rose by an incredible 23.4%. Local production of the GLA has also boosted sales in China to 27,562 units, which translates to a sales increase of 19.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. Furthermore, the brand with the star recorded particularly strong growth in South Korea (+44.8%) and Japan (+40.6%), where it remains the leading premium manufacturer.
