The Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream is the 8 million dollar creation of Swiss entrepreneur and designer Ueli Anliker, unveiled at the Tuning Fair in Friedrichshafen. Now the expressive supercar finished in gold and rubies is for sale.

For the Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream, Anliker has to find potent buyers, after all, the dream car from the Alps should cost 8 million euros. That is a counter-value of the time and exquisite materials invested in the car on which the Swiss worked about 30,000 hours and put on 600 rubies as well as five kilograms of gold. The gilded taillight housing alone costs 15,000 euros per piece.

Optically, the Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream is a big challenge. A front spoiler with additional lateral slats, including 128 LEDs as daytime running lights, should give the SLR a more bullish appearance – while at the same time delivering around 100 kilos of down force at 350 km / h. For such speeds, the gold appliqués and the gold-plated Ueli Anliker logos should also be fastened accordingly.

In the side view the designer once again went berserk. The side skirts are more extroverted, the sidestripes on the air outlet gills and on the front spoiler as well as the exhaust tailpipes are wrapped in 24 karat gold. The rims in the turbine wheel look also carry the precious metal as well as one of the numerous UA logos. But the rear of the Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream does not follow the voluminous front. An oversized rear spoiler, which should be good for 80 kilos of down force, dominates the back as well as the powerful air diffusor, which likewise carries gold inlays.

Rubies adorn the A-pillars of the SLR
The gold-red theme is also consistently implemented in the interior. Golden leather decorates the seats, the center console as well as parts of the steering wheel. What has not been knocked out in gold shines brightly against the two inlays on the wing-door. Rubine in various sizes on the A-pillars and the turquoise dashboard were further contrasting elements. On some function keys, smaller rubies with LEDs were stored. Another highlight Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream is the removable glass roof that can be stowed behind the rear window. In the trunk, the roof between two golden strips should not be stowed, because finally the luggage compartment is also knocked out with gold leather.

If the Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream instead of a buyer should find a thief – after all, a net value of over 4 million euros is insured – then Ueli Anliker can locate and lure his SLR via a built-in GPS system by mobile phone. If, on the other hand, the Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream wants to marvel at his home ice cream parlor, a two-zone radar advises to keep distance.

Further Mercedes SLR from Ueli Anliker in the pipe line
Power is also important, so the standard 650 hp from the V8 supercharged engine found under the SLR AMG bonnet was increased to 900 hp, but could go as high as 1,000 hp. The Swiss remains mum on further details. However, one thing is certain, Ueli Anliker has made his Mercedes SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream as a masterpiece among further SLR projects.
