Mercedes-AMG G 65, the world’s most powerful off-road vehicle, will be available for the first time on the US market.
Helped by the new Mercedes-AMG G 65, Mercedes-Benz is further intensifying its ongoing SUV offensive. True, this isn’t a brand new model for Mercedes-Benz, but it is a totally new one for the US clients who were denied access to the mightiest SUV on Earth. First deliveries will take place in November.
The 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine will generate 463 kW (630 hp) and delivers an astounding torque of 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft). The Mercedes-AMG G 65 needs just 5.3 seconds for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h, with its top speed limited to 230 km/h.
The price tag is just as mind-boggling as its credentials. US customers will have to dig dip in their pockets and find no less than $218,825 for their brand-new Mercedes-AMG G 65. The price difference between the V12 model and the V8-powered G 63 currently on sale accounts to $81,675. Ouch! For that kind of money you can easily get a complementary CLS on top of that G 63.
With the Mercedes-AMG G 65, Mercedes-Benz USA is reacting to a growing number of customer seeking more performance and exclusivity in the luxury off-road league. Sales of Mercedes-Benz SUVs in the USA grew in 2014 by eleven percent, with more than one third of all sales bearing the three-pointed star already attributable to its versatile all-wheel drive vehicles.
