The all-new Mercedes-AMG E 63 streches its muscles on the Nurburgring. Said to offer as much as 612 HP, top E-Class came has been snapped again by our spy photographers.
What this lighter camouflaged prototype reveals for the first time is the precise detailing adorning the front end, wide, gaping grille and lower air-intake included. Otherwise, not much differentiates the new Mercedes-AMG E 63 from its regular sibling, seen at the Detroit motor show this January.
Top E-Class is said to offer as much as 612 PS (604 bhp) in S guise and 571 PS (563 bhp) in base form, courtesy of its new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. Mercedes’ new hot sedan will be the first model set to inherit AMG’s state-of-the-art V8 in its highest tune, trumping both the C 63 and the AMG GT S in the process.
Until the hotter Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series will see the daylight, the upcoming Mercedes-AMG E 63 will simply hold the title of the most potent car in AMG’s portofolio, upstaging both the C 63 and the AMG GT S and R in the process.
Said to be lighter and faster than its predecessor, the all-new E 63 will also mark the debut of Mercedes’ high-tech nine-speed gearbox in the AMG line-up. The sporty arm’s engineers will, of course, re-tune the transmission’s settings in order to suit the AMG philosophy.
The official debut is set for this Autumn or early 2017.
