Pitting the mighty new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe against its arch-rivaling BMW X6 M is nothing new. But a hilariously ironic video review is, especially when the guy behind it happens to be none other than Jonny Lieberman of MotorTrend fame.
You might argue that Lieberman is not the funniest car tester around. Don’t worry, this time he’s outdone himself, probably throwing all the comedian skills he’s ever wished to posses in the game and produce one of the most enjoyable comparisons of late.
And most of the time his jokes do have a valid correspondent in real life. Starting with the atemptedly failed parking job made at the wheel of the rear-visibility enemy GLE Coupe straight to the ironic “U” put in front of the GLE plate with obvious comedic results.
There is a serious aspect to the test, too, of course and Lieberman’s verdict is quite straightforward. The X6 is simply seen as the better driver’s car, despite its power deficit (575 hp versus 585 hp for the GLE 63 S Coupe). What is even more surprising is that the GLE failed to outshine the X6 even in its strongest round, losing the drag race set up by MotorTrend.
The Merc’s downfall is easy to speculate as it all comes down to its hulking mass which passes the X6’s own bulk by a sheer 200 lbs or 100 kg. Jonny’s face says it all.
