The most powerful Mercedes-AMG GT is speeding to the moment of its launch. Less than three years away from the birth of the GT, the Black Series beast has been caught testing at the Nurburgring, Nordschliefe.

The world has been waiting and demanding it since the very beginning, as the Mercedes-AMG GT, launched in Paris back in September 2014, is nothing but the offspring of the Mercedes SLS AMG, which got its own Black Series variant.

The AMG-throroughbred family is growing, after the birth of the GT, the GT R, the GT Roadster and the GT C, so the Black Series model would be appropriate for the ever-expanding range as the 5th member.

The “Green Beast” AMG GT R is the most powerful model in the AMG portofolio so far, with 585 horsepower developed by the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine. The same engine develops 612 horsepower in the Mercedes-AMG E 63, so we might see the Black Series clocking up around these figures or even going beyond them.

The video that surfaced online shows a fully-camouflaged prototype that feeds speculations: narrow headlights, a huge rear-wing, wide gaping air intakes, vertical solid grille and muscular proportions that follow the lines of the GT indicate that it is the Black Series. It is though not set to make its official debut before 2018, as a 2019 model. The Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers has already confirmed that a more potent AMG GT car is in the works.
